petty poems

1.

i want to glide down over Mulholland

you said a camera affixed to my ceiling would have captured a scene of “devastating lovemaking”
i attempt to elongate that post cum sadness and marry you in it
i step into your mother’s bathroom, a tribute to your namesake
a hundred framed photos of the same cowboy
riding off into the sunset

2.

all the vampires walking through the valley

what began as a seed of ignorance hit me last
perhaps she cultivates a spiritual fungus
perhaps she continues to water a poisonous plant

3.

all the bad boys standing in the shadows

i open a shoebox to reveal smaller versions of you and me
playing tiny guitars
a peek into heaven
you and me zoomin around on a big pool toy
we kiss underwater to solidify it
lets reach underneath and try to hold onto something
i love horses and my boyfriend too

4.

there’s a freeway runnin through the yard

tom petty peering down on ur pool party
tom petty beams down upon us
i put tom petty on so my roommate couldn’t hear us
i am so excited to see you that i put my arms around you and press our breasts together
you say, “you’re sticky”
now we’re laughing, nonporous cock in hand
its hard to keep me down for long
i was made to love you with a hazardous inertia
